Columbia Public Schools had publicly stated that Lee would be receiving funds for an addition that would allow for the removal of trailers, but it appears that Lee will likely not be receiving the funds in this upcoming bond cycle. The bond would provide $50 million to CPS, but about $30 million will be devoted to the construction of the new elementary, leaving only $20 million for everything else. The bond provides $50 million, but CPS has $80 million in budgetary needs, so the school board is having to make some difficult decisions regarding which projects will be funded.
The school board will be making their decision at its meeting on November 4th at 4:30 pm. The Lee PTA encourages you to contact school board members prior to the meeting and attend the November 4th meeting to help shape the decision. A resolution statement by the Lee Autonomous School Board and backed by Lee PTA will be forwarded to the Board of Education. If you wish to add your name to the resolution statement please email leeartspta.
Thanks for all you do for Lee!
