No PTA Meeting, November Information

I just wanted to send out a quick reminder that we do not have a PTA meeting tonight. Before the school year started, we decided not to have a meeting this month because there is no school on our regularly scheduled meeting date (the first Tuesday of the month). With the Fall Festival the week prior and Parent-Teacher conferences the week following, we thought shoehorning a meeting into the beginning of this month might be over taxing for parents and teachers. Sorry for any confusion (one school calendar lists a PTA meeting tonight, another does not). We’re looking forward to seeing you at our next PTA meeting on December 4th!

November is truly an exciting month! Here is a heads up for some of the upcoming events–additional information will be coming your way soon!

Teacher Appreciation/Support (Nov. 12-15th): Our amazing teachers are coming in early and staying late to meet with parents during the week of Nov. 12 – 15th. Because our teachers are in meetings through normal breakfast and dinner times during the week, we like to show our support and appreciation by providing food for teachers on the Parent-Teacher conference dates. If you’d be willing to provide food, we’d be so thankful! Food sign up information will be coming out this week.

Book Fair (Nov. 12-15th): The PTA is also hosting a Book Fair in the school Media Center during the evenings of Parent-Teacher conference week. The proceeds from the sale supports our school library and provides funds for new books and materials. More information will be coming home this week!

Silent Film/Silent Art Auction (help needed!): Our school’s biggest fundraiser, the Silent Film/Silent Art Auction (SF/SA), is just about three months away! We are so excited about this year’s event! Thanks to sponsorship from the MU School of Music, we will have our SF/SA at the gorgeous Missouri Theatre on February 9th! This annual event features silent films accompanied by a live orchestra and a silent auction of original artwork by local artists and collaborative works by Lee students. Dr. Mehr and Dr. Gennie have already begun work on some of the art projects but parent help is needed. If you are able to help with some of the class art projects, please contact Dr. Mehr at amehr. This is a wonderful and huge event and there are many ways to be involved, whether it be by helping with the art projects, asking artistic friends or family to donate artwork, helping with publicity, gathering local donations, or helping with the many other facets of this event. We will have our first SF/SA planning meeting at the end of this month and would love your help!

More information about these and other events will be coming your way soon. Please let me know if you have any questions, ideas, or concerns at 514-4384 or leeartspta. Many thanks for all that you do for your child and for making Lee such a wonderful community!
